Summer Learning Journey | Fishy False Teeth | Step It Up Activity

Today I have created my own poster about why the trigger fish with human teeth is real or fake. 

First I read an article if I thought it was real or fake. Afterwards I researched about if the article was telling the truth or not.

Next I created a poster if the article was real or now so disproved that it was real. I think that people who got the fish might've photoshoped it and change the mouth so that people could believe it. 

Lastly I added added some resources, image.

I enjoyed doing this activity because I was able to explore more about the trigger fish. 

Summer Learning Journey | Sound track of Summer

 Today I have done another activity on summer songs.  This activity was to find songs that made me happy and people happy. 

First I watched a short video so I know what I have to do for this task. I then watched another two videos about how music bring people together and how to create the perfect summer song. 

Next I copied a google slide that has all the things I have to do for this task. During this task I needed to find 10 music playlists that make people happy and come together. 

Lastly I put 10 songs in a slide showing the name of the song, artist, known, easy, and happy, and counted how many stars there were in each song. 

I found finding the songs hard because I don't know a lot of summer songs. 

Summer Learning Journey | Pixel Art

Today I have created my summer pixel art. My image is  a half eaten apple because I like eating them. 

Pixel art is different sized squares with colours used to create a digital image. When creating one using a lot of squares can create a much better image then having a few squares can not create a proper image. 

I found this easy because I have created a lot of pixel arts before. 

Summer Learning Journey | Are Summer Holidays the same around the world?

Today I have written if the summer holidays are same around the world.

First I watched a short video so I know what I have to do. Afterwards I read an about summer vacations, and three other articles, too. 

Next I copied a google drawing to write about the holidays in the northern hemisphere and the southern hemisphere.

I found this fun because I was able to learn what the differences are in each hemispheres. 

Summer Learning Journey | Mondrain

Today I have created an art work using the work that Mondrian has created. Mondrian is a famous painter who is best known as the abstract artist, but before he started abstracts he painted realistic art paintings. 

In this activity I've learnt who Peit Mondrian is and what he was famous for. While I was drawing my art I needed to have square and rectangular shapes to make Mondrian art and be creative in this art. 

I enjoyed doing this activity because I was able to create my own art, but something I found hard about this activity was what kind of image I should draw because I had a lot. 

Summer Learning Journey | Nanogirl Lab activity | See-Saw

Today I have created a see saw using 6 materials at home, spoon, cardboard or kitchen roll inner tube, long string, rubber, and a blue tack.

First I watched a short video of Nanogirl creating one. I also needed to listen to what material she was using to create the see saw. 

Next I created my own see saw. While I was looking for my materials I didn't have a kitchen roll inner tube so I created one using a think colored paper.

Lastly I tested my see saw out if it would really work. 

I found playing with the see saw fun because sometimes it went really high.

Summer Learning Journey | Do Something

Today I have showed using google maps where I would like to go. I chose these places because they are the places I never went before in New Zealand. 

In this task I needed to chose 15 places in New Zealand from option A or B. 

These are the reasons why I would like to go to these 15 places are:

I would like to go to Cape Reinga, Routeburn Track, Mount Taranaki, Sky Tower, and Mount Ruapehu because I think it has good views to look at from the top.

I would like to go to Kaikoura, and Oamaru Blue Penguin Colony because I want to see the animals there. 

I would like to go to the Kiwi Fruit country, and the Giant Lemon & Paeroa Bottle because there are tall and big statues there. 

I would like to go the Te Puia Pohutu Geyser so I can see them blowing up into the air. 

I would like to go the Beehive, and the Hobbiton™ Movie Set Tours because I think its a cool place to visit.

Summer Learning Journey | Camping Hacks

Today I have listed all the things I need if I was going for camp.

First I watched a short video so I know what I have to do for this task. I then went on three links that explained about preparing a camp checklist, travel away link, and a video about camping hacks. 

Next I created a google doc and listed everything I would need for camping. In the list I have created categories so we know what we need for each group of things.

Lastly I checked my list to see if I needed anything else during camp. 

I found this activity a little bit hard because I never went to camp and I also didn't know what other things to bring apart from tents, food, sleeping bags and more. 

Summer Learning Journey | Poi Rakau

 Today I have created a slide to teach people how to play poi rakau. 

First I watched a short video so I know what I have to do for this task. 

Next I watched another video of how to play poi rakau, and went on to Maori dictionary to see how to pronounce matau and maui. 

Lastly I created a slide showing how to play this game and the rules of this game, too. 

I found explaining the game easy because I have played this before. 

Summer Learning Journey | Song maker

Today I have created my own song about summer. In this song it has cicadas, and someone playing piano.

First I watched a short video so I know what I have to do in this task. I also two videos of cicada's and tui's sounds. Afterwards I watched a video of how to create a summer song. 

Next I went on chrome music lab and created my own summer song. 

Lastly I listened to the music again to see if it was good, and changed some of it. 

I enjoyed doing this activity because I was able to create my own song. 

Summer Learning Journey | My Special Summer Place

I have created my own summer place that I go during the school holidays with my family. I have chosen Piha beach because we go there in the summer with my family and sometimes friends there. 

First I watched a short video so I know what I have to do for this task. I also watched another video and an article about 10 best places to visit in New Zealand. Afterwards I explored in New Zealand touring map. 

Next I copied a google slide to show my favourite place in summer.

Lastly I added my own image and my descriptive writing about my favourite place in summer. 

Summer Symmetry | Summer Learning Journey

Today I have created my own summer symmetry. Symmetry's are similar parts facing each other or putting a line to show the symmetry.

In this google draw I have put  images and drew a line to show the symmetry. I chose these photo's were because it's something I like to eat and do during the summer. 

Summer Learning Journey | Nano girl experiment

Today I have created an anti gravity cup to see if the water would leak when a piece of paper was attached to the bottom. 

First I watched a video so that I know what I have to do. 

Next I created my own gravity. I needed a cup and a piece of paper that was bigger than the hole. 

Lastly I took a photo of my cup and pasted on a google drawing. 

I found this activity easy because I have done this before. 

Summer Learning Journey | Summer Collage

Today I have created my own collage of what I like to do in the summer. 

First I watched a video about a tutorial of how o do a collage on a google drawing. I also went on three links that had pictures to put on our creation. 

Next I copied a google drawing to start my creation of what I like to do in the holidays. 

Some of the reasons why I chose the images:

During the summer holidays I like to eat ice cream because it usually cools me down from the hot temperature. I like to ride my bike because I don't really like running that much. I also like talking to my family overseas because we can share news and talk to each other. 

Lastly I put the photo's together so I could create a collage. 

I found hard about putting the photo's together because it sometimes the image that I found didn't fit. 

Summer Learning Journey | Float your boat

Today I have created my own origami boat to see if it would float or not float. 

First I watched a video a video so I could learn to make on. This is the video.

Next I recreated my own boat while watching the video. Something that I learnt while making this boat is that make sure every fold is perfect or the ending steps of the folds will be crooked. 

Afterwards I tested out the boat in a big bowl if it would float which it did. 

Lastly I  created a google draw and labeled some parts of the boat. 

I found making the origami boat hard because I never built it before. 

Summer Learning Journey | Summer Sounds

I have created my own poem about the sound outside my home.

First I watched a short video to see what I have to do for the task. 

Next I read a poem from a google slide I copied so I could get some ideas to write my own poem. Afterwards I did a task which I needed to highlight the words that were the sounds, highlight the word that I didn't know and what I noticed about the words that I highlighted. 

Lastly I recorded the sound outside to get inspiration to write my own poem. 

I found writing my own poem hard because I usually don't do this.

Summer Learning Journey | Ice Cream | Maori

I have completed another summer learning journey activity of ice cream which was a Maori task. 

First I watched a short video so I can see what I need to do. 

Next I listened to the recorder so I could write what he might be saying. After writing the answers down I looked at the answer to see if I was right or close.

Afterwards I created my own favourite ice cream and translated it to Maori so that I could record myself saying the sentence.

Then I tried to work out the correct combination of the coins to know what the price is. 

Lastly I created a google draw poster to show some vocabulary to show what I have learnt today. 

I enjoyed doing this activity because I was able to learn new Maori sentences. 

Summer Learning Journey | Māui me te Rā

I have completed another summer learning journey activity of Māui me te Rā. 

First I watched a short video so I can see what I need to do. Afterwards I translated the page so I can understand what it means because it was written in Moari.

Next I copied a google slide and translated the whole slide because it was also written in Moari. 

Then I watched two short videos about Maui and the sun, and needed to compose a song, compose a haka or compose a toikupu.

Lastly I created my own phrase using a google draw. In this phrase it needed to have how does he feel, is he happy, is he sad, is he tired, confused, what are his thoughts on aspects of the work, in the end, what does he think?

I found this activity hard because the whole task was written in Maori. 

Summer Learning Journey | Whai String Games

I have created a cup and saucer using a string. 

First I copied a google slide to do my task, and read a story about how the two siblings created one. 

Next I followed an instruction of how to make a cup and saucer. I watched a short video to help me create one because I have forgotten how to create one. 

Lastly I looked for a string to make one, and created the cup and saucer. I also took a photo of my creation. 

I found this activity easy because I have created this before at school. 

Summer Learning Journey | Camping Site

I have done another activity called the camping site, and it was also a maths task. 

First I watched a video so I know what I have to do. I also watched two extra videos to help me do this task.

Next I copied a google slide to do my task. In this task I needed to colour in my own camp sites. 

Lastly I worked out how much money I would make if each campsite was booked for each night. 

I found this activity hard because I didn't understand what to do for this task. 

Summer Learning Journey | Sundial | Nanogirl's Lab

Today I have learnt to create a sundial. A sundial is a device that tells time by the shadow that's been casts from the sun.

First I watched a short video of Nanogirl creating a sundial. I also listened to what materials she used so I could look for them after. 

Next I sorted my materials like paper , pencil, tape, and a drawing compass. I changed some materials because I didn't have it or I had something similar to it like to drawing compass. 

Lastly I constructed my sundial and I also put what I'm going to do in that time. 

I found this activity fun because I never created one of these before. 

Summer Learning Journey | Which one is real?

Today I completed week three day five task for the summer learning journey. 

First watched a short video so I know what I have to do first. 

Next I played a game to see who is real and fake. During this game I used clues to help see if they were real or not. The game score I got was 6 out of 4. 

Lastly I screenshotted the last photo's to show what the clues were in a google drawing. 

I found playing the game hard because there were a lot of clues in both pictures that I sometimes get confused by.

Summer Learning Journey | Meri Kirihimete ki a koutou

I have created my family favourite Christmas song, and it was Snowman.

First I thought of different types of song because we had a few favorites. 

Next I chose one that we usually listen and Snowman was the result.

Lastly I copied the song link to share it on my blog.

Summer Learning Journey | Ngā mihi o te tau hou | Happy New Year in Different Countries

Today I created a poster for saying Happy New Year in five different cultures. 

First I read Happy New Year in different cultures in a Google Doc. Some were: Afrikaans-Voor spoedige nuwe jaar, and German-Ein glückliches neues Jahr.

Next I picked 5 languages to create a poster on Happy New Year in 5 languages.

Lastly I added cultural flags and made it pretty.

I found this activity fun because I was able to learn some languages of saying "Happy New Year!"

Summer Learning Journey | Giuseppe Arcimboldo

I have created an art using different things to create an portrait. This was inspired by Giuseppe Arcimboldo who is a famous artist known as creating imaginative portraits heads using fruit, vegetables, flowers, fish, and books. 

First I read three stories to find out more about him.

Next I created my own portrait image. I created the face of a reindeer and flowers inside a vase.

Lastly I changed I changed where the parts will go after collecting the images. 

I enjoyed doing this activity because I was able to be creative with my own portrait.
