Tenses

A verb is a word that describes an action. Tenses are three things that tells about an action. There are 12 different kinds of verb tenses, they are: Past simple, present simple, future simple, past continuous, present continuous, future continuous, past perfect, present perfect, future perfect, past perfect continuous, present perfect continuous, and future perfect continuous.

The three things of an action are time, continuance and completion. Time involves past, present, and future. Past tenses tells about an action that has already happened. Present tenses tells about an action that is still happening. Future tenses tells about an action that is not been happened.

Completion includes perfect. Perfect is an action that is already finished.


Continuance involves simple and continuous. Simple describe actions without specifically stating whether the actions are completed. Continuous tenses shows an action that is, was, or will be in progress at a certain time. 

Verb tenses can be helpful when to know when it took place.
