Logging

Activity 1

I think we should not do logging because you might kill animals that lives in the tree. You might also kill insects that belong in the tree too.

  1. Hey there Chisa, it's Billy here again from the Summer Learning Journey programme. It's wonderful to see that you've completed another activity. Keep it up throughout January!

I agree, we should stop logging in our country or at least limit how many trees we are cutting down. People who do cut down trees should have to plant new ones. The only problem is it takes years for a tree to grow and only minutes to chop one down.

What sort of things do we use wood for anyway? Can you name a few?

Yeah it's not fair to destroy the homes of animals. Imagine if someone came and chopped down your house as you were sleeping in bed. You'd get a massive fright!

    Thanks, Billy.

  2. Hey Chisa,

It's Mele again from Panmure Bridge School. It's good to see you getting active and caring about your learning during these summer holidays. I did this activity too. It was interesting, because we got to share our reasons for why we should or shouldn't allow logging in NZ. Yes our animals could get hurt from these trees and they may loose there houses. This means that they will need to find new homes every time. I agree.

    NICE:)

  3. Hello Chisa! I also think logging shouldn't be allowed, and I enjoyed reading your reasons why. It's important to think about how cutting down trees will effect other things than what it benefits. Why do you think loggers do this? Great work!
