Simile

Similes are comparisons of two things using "like" or "as...as."

When similes describe an action, "like" is used. For example, "The girl has eyes like a hawk."

When similes describe an adjective, "as...as" is used. For example, "The water is as clear as crystal.

Similes help people picture the scene in their mind.
