Food Storage and Preservation

Containers are used to store food or preserved food from breaking down or from mould.

Stainless Steel Gastronorm Pans
Stainless steel gastronorm pans are made out of steel. They can be used in oven cooking, they can be stored in freezers, and they are hygienic. Some of the cons are they are too deep for some fridge storage, and they big and wide.

Mason Jars
Mason jars are made out of glass that has a latch on the top. They are easy to store in small places, they are air tight, and they are easy to sterilize. Some of the cons are they don't store a lot and the jars are made out of glass that will break.

Plastic Gastronorm Pans
Plastic pans are made out of plastic that can be stored in different places. They are good for storing them in fridges and freezers, and also safe in dishwashers. Some of the cons are they are not suitable for microwaves or ovens because they both go to a very high temperature and they will melt.

Conclusion:

The three different containers are suitable for the three different purposes which are storing left overs in the fridge, preserving food like fruit or pickles, and serving food that has to be kept warm for a buffet restaurant.

The gastronorm pans are good for buffet restaurants because they keep the food warm, and they can store a lot of food.

The plastic pans are good for storing left overs in the fridge because its stackable and it saves space depending on the size.

The Mason jars are good for preserving fruit or pickles because its air tight and it can make some of the food last longer.

  1. Kia Ora Chisa, you have done some awesome learning here. What did you find was the best way to store and preserve food? Fun fact, I went to Ball State University in America which is the university named and funded by the Ball Brothers who were the creators or the Mason Jars you mentioned above.
