Maths

We have been finding out the average group scores and adding a data set from athletics day.

When adding a data set, using multiplication can be an easier way to solve maths. To solve this people could use white board to explain how they have solved the maths. When finding the average we used multiplication instead of doing repeated addition. Instead of using repeated addition to find the average, we can use multiplication like (5x2)+(4x2)=18 not 5+5+4+4=18.

Next we figured out the average which is adding all the numbers up then dividing that number by the amount of groups there are in total. Example: 18÷9=2, 180÷9=20, next step is to divide 2 by 9. 2 is made out of 20 tenths, and there are no 9's in a two so put .2 next to 20 that will make 20.2.

People can find answers faster by using multiplication rather than using repeated addition.
