Our task was to create a smoothie and a fruit salad following the instructions Mrs Heka. For this activity I was able to collaborate with my group Bella and Ariana. Something I found interesting was that I was able create a smoothie and a fruit salad using things that might be at home.

Maths (Addition and Subtraction)

LI: to find and use the most efficient strategy to answer the question.

For this activity it was to solve maths questions using efficient strategy to answer the question.

First, we picked one challenge that was going to challenge our selves. After we finished our challenge we chose one question from the challenge and created a DLO on how we solved it.

Next, we used our DLO and screencastify our work and how we solved it.

I found this activity fun because I was able to show what strategy I use to answer the question.

Nga Mihi

LI: to teach others about yourself by creating a Nga Mihi.

For this activity it was to create a mihi. Mihi also tells about them self  to tell other people.

First I got a partner to practice saying the mihi and to try and remember some parts of our mihi. Before practising our mihi we filled in the gaps that needed to be added like our name.

After memorising our mihi we created a google slide. In the slide show we added our pictures we drew.

Lastly we made a screencastify saying our mihi and talking about some of our information.

I enjoyed doing this activity because I was able to share some of my information.

Why do we use TEEL paragraphs?

LI: To understand how TEEL paragraphs can help us structure our information and ideas in a paragraph.

We use paragraphs in our writing to expand on an idea. In LS2 we use the TEEL acronym (title, elaborate, evidence and link) to help us structure our thinking. The example on my DLO shows where each of the structure has been written, and what the TEEL paragraph is.

I found this activity fun because I was able to learn how this is been used to write a paragraph.

Cybersmart | Kawa of Care

LI.to be cybersmart and use our devices and clever ways in order to learn, create, and share.

Being cybersmart means to be knowledgeable towards a device in order to keep it secure and safe.

Understanding the rules of the Kawa of Care, can help someone to learn, create and share.

Some of the rules state that a person should: never have food around the netbook, charge near a wall to contain a risk or hazard, placing a netbook away from the edges on a table, use two hands when carrying a netbook around, put the chromebook in a case when going outside with it and more. These rules ensure that the netbook can remain protected.

Knowing the keyboard can assist with how fast someone can type and finish their work. When someone memorizes their keyboard it will be easy to complete a task.

Being cybersmart can help to learn, create and share a person’s work.

Leadership

LI.to unpack what a leader looks like.

We unpacked the meaning of 4 different words team, leadership, role model, and responsibility which are all good qualities to have as a leader. We listed as many words as possible linked to leadership. Using these words we created a 25 word summary explaining what a leader is.

After that we made a collaboritive DLO explaining all the subjects we learnt in the sessions. In my group was Fau, Vayan, Aisea, Ong, and Azatulah.

Why it is important to be hydrated

LI. To understand why staying hydrated is important for our health and for our learning.

Our task was about defining the difference between hydration and dehydration in a group of 5 or 4. The importance to stay hydrated because the more water you drink the more activity you have in your body. Dehydration is when you don't drink enough water that can make your skin dry especially on hot days. I enjoyed doing this activity because I was able to know why hydration and dehydration are important for our health.

Statistics | Favourite colours in LS2

LI: To plan and carry out a statistical investigation.

Today for our maths task we carried out a statistical investigation. We thought of 4 different questions to gather data. After that we asked the 4 different questions to collect the data.

Then we chose a question to create a pie chart on a Google Sheet. After we created the chart we saw that blue was the most popular colour in LS2. We pasted in the graph to a Google Draw and wrote our prediction and what colour was chosen more.

I found this activity fun because I was able to know what some of the students favourite colours were.

Summary of Te Tiriti o Waitangi

LI: To explain in fewer words what the text is about.
The Treaty of Waitangi was made to bring peace to New Zealand. Our task was to read a text about how the Treaty of Waitangi began. We used used respical reading to help us understand the text more. When we completed reading the text, we were using summarising template to help us create a short paragraph telling us about the story. This task was really fun because we got to learn more about our past and what happened when the Britain came to New Zealand.
