Summer Learning Journey | It's Cool to be Kind
I have created a template on my comment thread.
First I watched a short video so I know what I should do.
Next I played a game about being kind, and started to create a google draw of a kind comment someone has commented on.
I found this easy because I have done comment threads before.
Summer Learning Journey | Building a super with Nanogirl
I have created three columns to test out which ones can hold up after given an object to put on.
First I watched a video to test out which columns are strong. The shapes were 3D triangle, cylinder, and a flat piece of paper that is being faced side ways with a folded corner.
Next I created my own columns, and tested out with little shampoo container. The results were: flat paper fell, but the cylinder an the 3D triangle didn't fall.
I found this activity challenging because there weren't cardboard in my home and I tried to find something that was hard.

Summer Learning Journey | Te Huarere - The Weather
For today's second task I have learnt a few Maori Weather words.
First I watched a short video so that I can understand what I should be doing.
Next I created a slide and listened to different types of weather words like: paki - sunny/fine, puahuru - sunny weather, and I listened some more.
Afterwards I created a sentece of "He aha te tohu huarere?" that means "What's the weather?"
Lastly I three weather fordcast which were paki, hauaua, and kapuapua.
I found it quite easy because I knew some of the Maori weather words.
Summer Learning Journey | Building a Dam
For today's first task I needed to build a dam outside.
First I watched two videos about how beavers make dams, and kids building one to solve a water problem.
Next I created my own dam out of materials outside. During this activity, today is a wet day so I have created a drawing to show what my dam is going to be like.
I enjoyed doing this activity because I never drew a dam before and it was hard to figure out what other materials could be used to block water.

My Hana Koko Design | SLJ 2020
Today I have created clothes for Santa to wear because NZ is summer during Christmas.
First I started off with by reading a story about Hana Koko. During this time the story told why santa wears warm clothes when he visits NZ.
Next I created a google draw so I could design for Santa. I found this easy because I am good at drawing and I also had some ideas to what I should draw, too.
I enjoyed drawing the clothes because I like to draw.
This is my result.

Haiku Poem | Summer Learning Journey
Today I have done another activity called Haiku Poem.
First I watched a video about how to write a Haiku Poem. While watching this video I started to understand what it is.
Afterwards I picked a topic about birthday. Thinking of a topic took me a while because I had a lot in mind but chose one.
During this activity I understood more about what a Haiku poem is, and how to write it.
Which one doesn't belong?
I have done a maths activity from Summer Learning Journey.
First I did listed a reason for each four images on why it doesn't belong.
Next on the final slide I created my own which one doesn't belong. Look for reasons for each image and comment back.
When doing this activity I found it hard because every image had a reason and it was hard for me to choose which one was really right.

Summer Learning Journey | Song Chorus
Today I have created a song chorus that was created by the Mangere College students.
The chorus song I have made is to never give up even. I wrote this song because striving and achieving is important to do and because its most of the school's school value.
I found changing the lyrics hard because I don't know what fits the best and sounds good for each line.

Step it up | Summer Learning Journey
Optical illusions are ways of tricking the brain into seeing something that may not be there.
To create optical illusion people could search it up.
Then people could draw or use google draw to create that drawing.
Different types of illusions are sometimes confusing to draw.

Today for the third task I have done a Maori task.
First I watched a video so I can understand what I have to do.
Next I created a Maori sentence of "What are you doing today?" I also did this for all four slides.

Maths | Quiz
Maths quiz's tests how fast someone can answer.
The first quiz is about basic facts. The person who has made the quiz needs to give 20 questions. Then someone has to answer 20 questions, and select one answer that they think is correct. My time was 1 minute and 37 seconds, and my partner took 4 minutes and 47 seconds to complete the first quiz. I got only one wrong and my partner got 8 wrong.
The second quiz is about strand. The person who has made the quiz needs to give 15 questions. Afterwards someone else has to answer the 15 questions and select one answer. My score was 10 out of 15, and my partners score was 10 out of 15, too.
Different types of maths questions can challenge other people.

Reading | Comprehension strategies
Comprehension strategies are reading strategies that helps people when reading. They are prior knowledge, skimming and scanning, questioning, visualising, making connections, predicting, inferring, summarising, synthesising, and self monitoring.
Predicting, and visualising can be used before reading so people can estimate the next part of the story.
Prior knowledge, self monitoring, and inferring can be used during reading so people can learn words, and to check again.
Summarising, questioning, and making connections can be used after reading so people can see if they have understood the whole story, ask questions, and make links.
Knowing how to use the comprehension strategies is important so people can use it during reading.

The Twit's | Novel Study
The Twits is a fictional book that was created by the author Roald Dahl. Chapters 27-29 were about how the Twit's getting tricked by the monkeys and the Twit's getting stuck.
First Mr and Mrs Twit thought that they were upside because they were standing not the ceiling not the floor. Mr Twit thought of an idea about standing up side down because Mrs Twit was complaining about how all her blood were going in her head.
Next they went up side down. They realized they were stuck in their heads after the ravens brushed sticky glue on their heads. After a week later they were gone after their head, neck, body, legs, and feet shrank into them selves.
The Twits is a funny book that lots of people can read including children.
